Nearly thirty years of accounting in Southeastern Kentucky, from coal company controller to the churches and small businesses of my home region.
A career spent close to home.
I have worked in accounting in Southeastern Kentucky since 1996. I started at a CPA firm in Corbin doing payroll, tax returns, audits, and financial statements, then moved into industry as Controller for Drives & Conveyors.
In 2000 I joined TECO Coal Corporation as Accounting Manager and stayed thirteen years, handling tax compliance, internal controls, and federal and state reporting for a subsidiary with more than $200 million in revenue, and assisting with the parent company’s SEC filings.
From there I led accounting for Alden Resources, served as Controller for Alabama Sand & Gravel and later Catalyst Resources, and ran financial planning for Senture’s forty government contracts. Along the way I directed ERP conversions, managed payroll and HR for more than a hundred employees, and sat through more audits than I can count.
In 2024 I went back to what I enjoy most: working directly with the churches, senior centers, and businesses of my home region, where the pastor or owner can call me and get a straight answer.
